Eagles SECRET Guitar Tuning Revealed (Best Of My Love Guitar Lesson)

I’m a guitar nerd. I’ve been obsessed with playing and studying this wonderful instrument for over 25 years.

And the story I’m about to tell you is the absolute truth, as incredible as it may seem.

It all started one day sitting down in my studio creating a new song lesson for you...

After countless hours of listening...

I'd figured out the basic chords to this iconic song but something still wasn't right...

Suddenly I had this unusual thought to try changing the tuning...

What happened next was I stumbled upon a magical SECRET...

A SECRET that has not been uncovered for the past 50 years...

Instantly the chords that came from my guitar sounded GLORIOUS...they were lush...like none I've ever played...

What I am about to share with you is incredibly RARE...

In fact, you won't find this ANYWHERE on the internet…

There is not one single video online that reveals what you are about to see…

But because you are here with me…

I’m going to let you in on this brain-dead simple trick...

And when you apply it to this song I GUARANTEE you will sound in a league of your own...

This secret tuning was not only used by the Eagles. But also many other LEGENDARY artists from this great era of music.

The tuning is what I would call a G6 tuning and is as follows from low to high:

6th string: E

5th string: G

4th string: D

3rd string: G

2nd string: B

1st string: E

When you add up all these notes you get the notes: G, B, D, and E. These notes are the root, 3rd, 5th, and major 6th of a G6 chord.

Here are the strings again this time each one is labeled as intervals relative to the G6 chord:

6th string: Major 6th

5th string: Root

4th string: Perfect Fifth

3rd string: Root

2nd string: Major 3rd

1st string: Major 6th

The song is known for its smooth harmonies, melodic hooks, and a blend of soft rock elements that characterized the Eagles' sound. "Best of My Love" is often associated with the country rock and folk rock genres that the Eagles were known for during that era.

Lyrically, the song speaks to themes of love, longing, and the complexities of relationships. It expresses a mixture of emotions, including affection and vulnerability. The chorus, which includes the line "Every night and day, I'm thinking of you," reflects the song's central theme of devotion and the desire to give one's best to a romantic partner.

The success of "Best of My Love" contributed to the Eagles' rising popularity and helped solidify their reputation as one of the leading bands of the 1970s. The song's combination of heartfelt lyrics, memorable melody, and polished harmonies made it a radio favorite and a staple of the Eagles' live performances.
